Sonia McDowell is a seasoned trial attorney specializing in residential and commercial construction litigation. Representing owners, developers, general contractors, and subcontractors, she handles complex, multi-party disputes—from defect claims and payment issues to lien enforcement, insurance coverage disputes, and subrogation matters. Sonia also has extensive experience in personal injury and premises liability defense. Sonia uses her understanding of every stage of case development—from pre-litigation to jury verdict—to deliver focused, results-driven representation to clients across the state.
Sonia began her career and gained extensive trial experience as an Assistant State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, where she handled the prosecution of felony crimes for three years and worked with specialized task forces focusing on drug trafficking cases involving lengthy minimum mandatory sentences. Prior to joining The Grosshans Group, Sonia was Of Counsel at an AmLaw 100 firm, where she handled construction litigation matters and premises liability defense. During her career, Sonia has practiced in virtually every jurisdiction in the state of Florida. Her extensive courtroom experience gives her a unique perspective on how to most effectively represent her clients.
